South Carolina Educational Television (PBS), Regional Station Manager, June 2003- September 2006

  • Managed the day-to-day operations including budgeting, purchasing and personnel for the South Carolina Educational Television station (WJWJ) located in Beaufort, South Carolina.

  • Enhanced revenue and reduced overhead costs by expanding the agency’s dubbing and fulfillment center for video materials distributed across the country.

  • Led development efforts that increased the number of, and amount of, financial underwriters supporting local broadcast programming.

  • Met with local government agencies and lobbied to increase the level of financial support.

  • Organized and led WJWJ’s Community Advisory Board.

  • Represented WJWJ and South Carolina Educational Television at government meetings and community events.

  • Produced daily noon newscast.

  • Determined news story treatment and placement and worked with reporters to copy edit newscast scripts.

  • Coordinated news crews, contacted news sources, and monitored emergency scanners for breaking stories.

  • Managed the day-to-day operations of the newsroom including supervision of reporters and producers.

  • Assigned to the South Carolina General Assembly and local governments news beat. Led political reporting for the station during the 1992 South Carolina Presidential Primaries
